Custom built-in speakers come in a variety of sizes, shapes from many speaker manufacturers. Let's review speaker types and our recommendations.

You see round speakers in the ceiling and rectangular speakers in vertical walls; 6 1/2" size for a average size room and 8" for very large rooms. Standard speaker layout will include 3-in the front of the room and 2- in the back plus optional sub-woofer (5.1 system, 7.1 with 2-additional surround speakers). For our built-in speakers, we like AudioStar's reference series which have excellent frequency response, attractive pricing, and supplied by one of the nations largest speaker manufacturers.

As an alternative to the built-in speakers, Yamaha offers the Digital Sound Bar speaker which electronically simulates multiple room speakers. The Digital Sound Bar is a less expensive option than multiple room speakers and is often found on the wall under the TV. These units have integrated amplifiers, eliminating the cost of this component.

You will also want to consider the optional sub-woofer for your system. We like Yamaha's new slim, shelf size units which sound great and eliminate the bulky floor sub-woofers. Our most popular round ceiling speaker with wide frequency response and power handling usually found only in far more expensive speakers. This model is our most asked for speaker in our installation packages and we feel you will not find higher performance and value anywhere. There are no paper parts in these speakers so they are perfect for beach and lake areas with more humid climates. Perfect model for average to larger size rooms.

Popular up-graded speaker for even greater frequency response and power handling. Good choice for the advanced receivers like the $1,199.95 Yamaha RXV1800 and above. You pay about $30.00 over the Model RS-C64 in our package pricing. For very critical listening this is an important upgrade.

Like our most popular round RS-C64, the RS-W64 is our most popular in-wall rectangular speaker. Great for 3-speaker systems mounted left, right and under a wall mounted TV or when wall speakers are preferred over ceiling speakers or your ceiling is slanted or cathedral precluding mounting any speaker in the ceiling. Perfect size for the average to larger size room. Although, wall speakers are considered better for improved ear level sound; out-of -sight round ceiling speakers are preferred 80% of the time by our customers.

If you have built-in cabinets or a custom shelving unit, these high spec speakers will be the perfect choice. Bookshelf speakers are usually matched in the back of the room with in-ceiling speakers like the round C64or C68 models, or in-wall speakers like the retangular WW64 model. This model also works well for the center channel.
