High Definition (HD) for your rooms is now a must-have and DIRECTV has some of the best programming and latest cutting-edge equipment available anywhere. Distribution is usually in a central equipment rack location with individual receivers for each channel, 18-36 channels systems typical , with these channels distributed over cable directly to the room TVs – no receivers or other components are needed in the rooms. Generally, dorms, hospital rooms and penal institutions will have simpler systems distribution systems where the hospitality industry will have high end distribution system to interface with management control and billing software.
The hospitality systems have special encryption modules called Pro:Idiom which is now Hollywood’s accepted standard for distributing their HD programming in hotels, stadiums and other commercial facilities. Equipment is also in a central rack location but each TV has to be Pro:Idiom enabled.
